1:1 18-19th century cupboard revamped

So, while waiting for thingies to be completed and arriving for my other projects (KKS EVA & Berserk) I started this lil' side story.


I was selling my old low rider bicycle to my friend Crea, and when he came to fetch it he had this beauty in the trunk:

I liked it so much we agreed on a trade.

However.. it would never fit in our apartment (as storage for linen in our bedroom to be exact) style wise, so I decided to "improve" it to fit this chinese/asian look:

Stripping, stripping, stripping ...

Base white + red corners:

A hint of black into the red and another layer, then wiped off for highlights:

Tomorrow I'll add the second layer of black.
Oh, and the untreated areas on shelves/walls will be covered with thinly cushioned fabric.

A friend of mine is constructing locks and decorations in solid brass to fit the style.

That a nice peice of furniture there.. Its amazing what ya can find out there. Good friend ya got there.

I know I've found some great looking furniture in some yard sales lately.

The cabinet itself is done... save the brass locks and decorations which will be done in ~October ..
