I borrowed this technique ( read "straight up robbed and will use forever" ) from Joa's Seras Victoria WIP (http://www.hobbyfanatics.com/index.php?showtopic=5230)
and it went so smoothly I had to add it here for those people who didn't read the whole thread.
First the whole leg was painted with the skintones.
Then I masked of the upper part and painted the stocking area with the following mix @ about 18 psi:
FW Artist's ink India black 028
FW Artist's ink Sepia 251
Model Master's water based acrylic dull/flat coat
Golden Air brush Color's Transparent Extender
Window polish
I mixed using roughly the following proportions: 1+2+3+10+~4 (basically 1 = one drop).
Needless to say, be patient and paint layer on layer on layer on layer in order to achieve the seamless buildup of the material.
The dull cote in combination with the transparent extender gives you the perfect nylon shine => instant, perfect stocking.
Thanks Joa, my life is heaps easier now!
