Satan called, and he said he's freezing. The bug bit me again and managed to turn my focus back to the bench.

I've returned my attention to Natsumi from the hit series Keroro Gunzo (or Sgt Frog as we know outside of Japan) In this particular portrayal, the crafty Kururu has turned her into an adult so she could go to the beach where she ultimately partcipates in a bikini contest

Well, unless the kit is from Volks or Wave, you can't expect to work on it without running into any problems. As you can see here, I found to my heart's dismay, that her bikini has been chipped. there's also a nick at the top of her thigh: a two part putty will surely be on the order.

Don't get me started on the pinholes. Happily, a minority of them are exposed and just a thin membrane of cured resin keeps most of them from marring the surface. I was careful not to sand them out and hopefully when the surfacer hits they're still flush and smooth. Her feet, however. would probably be better off if I just dipped them in surfacer.

In the buildup photo at the top you will notice there are a couple of bands around her upper arms. In a collaborative chat vote it was decided those should go. Apparently by design they were installed to ease the parts break, but IMO i've never seen anyone at the beach dressed with these particular accessories. You'll also notice an air bubble of titanic proportions at the break line. I could be upset, but the entire area will be smoothed over in the end.

The last of the "fixmes": The other arm. At this point i've already shaped it down. It will soon be attached and filled prior to painting.

Not much to report today :) I positioned her right arm in a manner that it's fixed in it's position but I could still attach the hair. I dripped some gap filling CA into the seam and temporarily held it together with tape while it dries. The same goes for the right arm. I'd post photos but ... they look like most of the others. I promiss to snap pictures when the putty and surfacer hits the model :)

OK, i'ts time to get dirty. I don't have any 'hobby grade' polyester putty so I'll have to settle for the next best thing: The Bondo equivalent.

http://alcid.com/images/DSCN2383.JPG

This stuff works pretty fast, and according to the instructions, has a five minute working time, and is workable in only 20 minutes!

by the time I was done applying it to the gaps it was starting to cure and began to have a pasty, sand-like texture to it.

Unfortunately I didn't expect to sand off the excess so easily. It seems I'll need this in more than on go

Yup, that Bondo Glazing putty is really brittle. I've only applied it to pinholes and very small gaps and imperfections. I'm curious to see how well it stands up in such a "large" gap.

Edit: Wait, I just noticed the Hardner beside the tube of Bondo. I've never seen Glazing and Spot that came with Hardner. Perhaps it's not as brittle as the stuff in the red tube?

It's not as brittle as the air-dry version, which should be avoided for applcations like the one demonsated in the previous posts. You know, shrinkage and stuff

I'm happy to announce a second applcation yielded better results. Perhaps one more go will fulfill the seamlessness and contour I desire.
