For few years in my shop we've been using Easy Mask Masking tape for furniture construction and masking finished products that we have to be careful of lifting and ruining the finish. We use to use the regular 3M blue painters tape and had problems with it lifting fresh finishes but it was the best out there, that is until we found Easy Mask.
They make different types of tape including the blue and green painters tape that alot of us are use to but we use the Kleen Edge type which comes in low and high tack ( high tack is close to blue tape but not as strong )
While I use Tamiya masking for my models I know alot of you like to use domestically found tape and I was thinking that if you use blue painters tape you will like the Easy Mask Low Tack tape alot better.
Here is their home page: http://www.easymask.com/
You can probably find it at a good local hardware store.
