This Guyver is originally released from Buildup and later released from Kaiyodo due to Copyright matters.

The kit I built is recast of the original.

I managed to get hold of the original and have a plan to build mount scene.

As with most of the kits I buy, my intention with this kit was to have a quick result - straight building.

I almost did straight buillding with this kit.

I assembled this kit and filled with resin inside an almost ready to be painted and that's when my then girlfriend droped it from a shelf, breaking resin inside this vinyl shell at its left hip joint.

So, as with most of the kit I buy to build straight, I decided to some modification.

That was about 10 years ago.

I see now that was good decision 'cos I discovered this picture.

This is how it would look like if built straight.

Head too Big, Legs too short, hips too wide.

Well, I wasn't going to touch any proportional issues, but I thought I could re-direct viewer's interest with some posing.

Since then many years have passed and this Guyver had been taken out from the shelf and put back again many times.

Until I got this original kit and saw the box art.

http://lh6.google.co.kr/jw.chung.aero/RuBhM9---AI/AAAAAAAAAMM/8w2NUz0IVCg/s800/guyver_bu13.jpg

I thought this was great, not so exaggerated but not so calm.

Then I recalled the Guyver 1 in the comics.

In the comics, the Guyver 1 is stronger than most of zoanoids but there are many enemies that could be stronger than him and he seemed to have lots of burden on his shoulder.

So to defict this image I positioned his view point up little higher than what is illustrated, so that he feels smaller against stronger opponent.

Over those many years, I have twicked here and there of this kit and for some reason, it had to be right leg that should bend forward - the reason why it is mirror image of aforementioned box illustration.

OK, enough with talking, let's get working.

The first thing I did was to cut here and there and set the pose.

http://lh5.google.co.kr/jw.chung.aero/RuAwct--92I/AAAAAAAAAKI/YzWn6o5vru0/s800/guyver_bu02.jpg

I filled the gaps with epoxy putty.

Then, the next job was to add texture in those places.

Here's neck.

And here's hip.

From front
http://lh4.google.co.kr/jw.chung.aero/RuAwUd--9yI/AAAAAAAAAJo/hrt8Ks1aTpo/s800/guyver_bu04.jpg

and from back.
http://lh3.google.co.kr/jw.chung.aero/RuAwYN--9zI/AAAAAAAAAJw/TsyWlsYXhjM/s800/guyver_bu05.jpg

And for Sternocleidomastoideus Muscle:SCM (hey! how do you read this guys?:hmm: ), which connect its chin and collar bone, I had to do something.

http://lh6.google.co.kr/jw.chung.aero/RuAwZ9--90I/AAAAAAAAAJ4/0BOBp9vJIrY/s800/guyver_bu06.jpg

Since it is turning head a little those two part must have different shape.

So I made a slit in the middle of the part.

The slit should not reach each ends. why?

Because I had to heat them with heat gun and inserted still wire of desired length essentially elongating the part to desired length and make them easier to shape.

Very difficult to explain.....

But, here's the result.

Then I added details here and there amd it is now ready to be primed.

I've learned that GSI Mr. Metal Primer serves best as a primer for vinly kit, I alwasy use it.

Since it is transparent, for the vinyl kit that happens to have many material of different colors on the surface I spray other colored primer on top of it to have one base color.

In this Guyver case, I primed with Mr. Resin Primer on top of Mr' Metal Primer.

Wow, a cool SIC looking guyver kit u have there. I've just got myself a guyver action figure by MaxFactory and it's not as cool as your kit.
Just wondering what paint do you use for the G-unit head parts? I always use tamiya & mr hobby silver paint but the result not as good as i imagined. I really need to know how to get a real "chrome" silver (mirror like).

thanks

Hi!

Thank you for your interest.

I would recommend "Alclad II Chrome" for chrome effect.

It has real chrome effect if you can use it correctly.

You must have airbrush to apply.

Well, there's spray can version of it, I haven't tried, but I know Alclad Chrome, I know spray can, So I doubt it will be good for models of small scale.

I had this paint on Guyver's silver area, however, it all wiped off by humbrol enamel thinner.

Since I don't have airbrush anymore, the result you can see is.....a supermarket brand spray can, sprayed on a small dish, and hand (of course, by brush) painted.

By the way, here are some tips for Alclad Chrome.

1. It has to be primed with black before painting.
2. It works best with Tamiya Gloss Black or Alcad Black Primer.
3. It works on Mr. Color but you must be good 'cos in most of cases you will lose it's chrome effect if you are not careful with this paint as the primer for Alclad chrome
4. Primer must me "WELL" dried.
5. Primed surface should be well prepared. Alclad Chrome at it best usage, only reflects primed surface - if it is mirrior glossy, the result will be mirrior surface, if it is not mirror glossy, don't even dream....
6. You must Airbrush this paint.
7. Use minimal amount of paint for each coat.
8. Apply the paint as if the mist of the paint falls on the surface.
9. if you apply too much alclad chrome...no hope.

That is a cool Guyver kit. XO Facto has a super-bad Lisker kit to match the movie guyver kits.
