I Wont bother explaining the whole process up till now except that It was a great learning experiance and have made many Big mistakes that needed fixing. I started with the idea of making Nami from One Piece into a sculpt based on a great fan drawing. It's not going to be her anymore tho, would rather it be my creation. I wanted the snakelike twisting body because I like the figures from the renaissance(spelling?) which have that twisting "figura serpentina" body which is beautifull. Definately inhuman proportions such as a long slim waist and long toned legs. was tricky getting it all look "right" while the proportions were inhuman (its my creation so anything goes!). Some details i've put energy on are the muscles under the armpit with just a hint of ribcage showing which i find hot.
Non scale but small, any suggestions or comments critique is welcome. maybe some tips as to how i should mold and cast it?
the face will be a more humanlike anime if you know what i mean.

Welcome to GKJ Dirkvanderkraan ;)
I'm sure some of our sculpting fans will be able to help you out with your proportions.

Welcome to the forum.

It would have been easier to give advice on how to sculpt One Piece characters :p

Since you intend it to be an original creation and you have a vision in mind, there isn't a whole lot anyone can say about it. From a sculpting standpoint, you are trying to put details in when you aren't really at the detail stage yet. I would spend a bit more time fleshing out the character and getting the proportions settled before worrying about creating butts and breasts. Even stylized, at the current size head, neck and torso... you are looking at a female figure that is roughly 8 feet tall. It might be easier at this stage to trim it down a bit before you get too far in.

Good luck and thanks for sharing your progress with us ::thumb

thanks, actually she's supposed to be about 8 feet tall if in real life. I had in mind something like a very thin supermodel, with even more stylized proportions than supermodels already have of the "average" human::yikes . I hope it works out in the end and yea i should definately get things fleshed out roughly before details, that took way to much time and if something needed changing...

Hello Dirk!
Nice to have another sculptor on board. Like Master Masa said, we cant really give any input yet. Do you have a control art or reference of her?

Hope to see more :D

Since i deceded it would be my own character, the nami drawings i have arnt of much use to me. I have however, collected a ton of anatomy reference pictures of muscles, and skeleton which i'm constantly looking at while working. I also have loads of body pictures from supermodels and anime sculpts. Even though i've stylised the proportions, its still very helpfull as you know. I've worked from inside to out (i think its called constructive sculpting...) mostly. Im also doing some rough sketching as to what her situation will depict. Im looking at adding some "groundlings" at her service or something like that (which will have the average human proportions). Maybe by tomorrow i'll have a sketch worked out.

And I'm using Milliput- greengrey and silvergrey. guess you can say not your average styling. I see her as a creature in a way, im not tying to imitate a human body or face, just make my own form "thing".

Very stylish design indeed. Kinda reminded me of the character design from Aeon Flux cartoon that was aired on MTV.

How about the pose?

Hey all,
So i want to show you what I've done with this project till now, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves on the process. Its not finished but i'm moving on to a new project. Whatever is being worked on, it is actually never finished, you will just get to a point where you want to start something new. So i've posed a new thread with my new project. Here is what's become of my first original sculpt.

ok so i've finally finished my first original sculpt. I went back to the original character of nami i dont know why i changed that in the first place. The waist has been trimmed down but still wanted it to be long. Im not sure if the way i did the eyes will work, need to paint it to see. Im not completely happy about the hand either. Nami is supposed to sort of claw at you but looks a bit like she painted her nails and are letting them dry or something. what else? ...she's quite a small model at 8cm from ground to top of head in the position she is in. I've made a silicone mould of the torso and legs but ran out of silicone for the head and hands. the cast of her torso had a lot of pinholes but no missing parts from air gaps. thoughts?
