I have to confess that this is the best anime eye tutorial ever! I like it so much that I've been using it ever since Morpheus posted it a few years ago! I dug it up off of the Hawaiian figure modeler's web page and did the eyes on Pink Bunny using this it! I've adapted the approach somewhat over the last one or two years to suit my needs but I owe a big thanks to Masa for showing me how it's done.
Thanks Masa for the tutorial and thanks Willow for posting it!
I know this is an old post, but today I followed Masa's tutorial and I have to admit that is really good! My first time painting female eyes (scared! ... you know, bad eyes -> ruined work), and all went very smooth :D
The shame is that in a 1/7 scale model it's nearly impossible to get a pupil color shade :p
Eyes are some of the most intimidating parts of your model to paint  . There are so many methods and it's very hard to get the very fine details how you want them when its so very small.. lol was that to many "verys" :p . Pick up some Pigma Micron Pens, their super fine tipped, waterproof and lightfast.
They should be a real help if you want to put on eyelashes and details where you may have problems doing so with a hand brush.

I wonder how to we do the shading..

If you choose to do shading on the eyes the easiest is with an airbrush. You can mask the head and cut out where the eyes are. Then lightly mist her area you want shaded.

Shading for an eye? too much work, besides i still haven't got the AB.
How do we paint the eyebrow? Yeah it's big enough in the tutorial, but in 1/8 scale? Did u use brush or other tool?

I use a 000 or 00 brush.
I use a very fine liner brush. Just takes some practice and a steady hand. As long as your previous coats of paint are sealed properly, you can wipe off any mistakes and try again until you get it right.

Question!!!
Normally do we use gloss or matt coat to seal? I have trouble with my matt coat staining when cleaning off. Esp for red and brown.

Depends on if you are sealing in-between coats or a final coat. If you are just sealing intermediate layers, then it doesn't really matter - gloss or matte. For the final coat, many prefer to use a gloss coat to give the eyes some "wetness" and shine.
Matching the right type of clearcoat to the type of paint you are using is very important. Some laquer based clearcoats will stain or cause acrylic paints to run.

Cleaning off=removing excess paint?
if so, what type of paints you are using(enamel or acrylic) and what you are using clean the paint off?

Citadel and vallejo. Cleaning off is using ammonia based kitchen cleaner

Dollfie Dream
Recipe to apply makeup to the Dollfie Dream Mimiko.
Before the artist’s Mimiko-san meets Sensei, we’ll introduce how to apply makeup for the DD series. So that your doll looks as you imagine it to, take some time first to practice.
Material List
Texture Colors-1,200 Yen
Face Brush- 500 Yen
Paper Pallet- 200 Yen
Make Pastel- 800 Yen
How to Paint the eyes
1. While paying attention to the size and placement of the eyes, sketch them in brown.
2. Paint the eyes any color you wish. Don’t paint then too deep at one time, but apply in small daubs.
3. Apply shading to the pupils as you wish. By using gradation, the feeling of a deeper body for the eyes will appear.
4. With a dark brown, deepen the eyebrows and creases. It also is fantastic if you express it as if the eyebrow appears as a line of hair. [As opposed to being made up of many hairs]
5. Fill in the outline of the pupils with a black or a dark brown. Pay attention to the overall balance.
6. Paint the Irises. (If you like simple pupils, ignore this process and finish with the highlighting in the next step.)
7. Apply highlighting to the reflective parts. Be careful of symmetry for both of the eyes.
How to draw the lips
1. Paint in the line created by the mold is also cute by itself.
2. Paint the lips with a color one shade deeper than that of the mold.
3. To add more of a body to it, add shading to the upper-lip as well as the corners of the mouth.
Complete! Good Job.
