Thanks to Joa (who sold me my first grail kit) Elric "Stormbringer" by Takeya from Kotobukiya is now complete. There are many more shots on my web site:

I hope you like him ... I'm really pleased with how he turned out. There is always a rush after completing a kit that makes you think it's the best thing you've ever done, and in this case, the buzz continues to grow.

Jim,
What a pleasure to see him painted!
I like how you choose to paint the armor metal rather than the bone like structure in the paintings as this is rarely seen in paint ups of it ;)
Speaking of Takeya, I'm heading to doing my Nightmare (VHD) kit this winter...
Rokk on!

thanks to everyone for the kind words ...
Joa, I think I'll be working on the Nightmare this winter as well. I'm about to start the prep on a bunch of kits ... I usually prep up 3 or so and then go into painting mode.
The 3 on my tentative list are Brom's Miss Muffet, Nina Darkness, and Nirasawa's Woman Bee.
I'll certainly post the results here and look forward to seeing what eeryone else does.

Thank you ... the gemstone is all paint and actually it's all with a brush ... I've never used an airbrush before.
The red stone was painted in several steps ...
1). prime white
2). a base coat of vallejo calvary brown (a reddish brown)
3). several thin layers of vallejo salmon rose (fleshy pink) on the top an bottom to create stone flecks and reflection
4). several thin coats of reaper ruby red ink to give it some sheen and blend in the salmon rose to the base coat
5). after matte sealing the entire piece, I used a brush-on gloss medium to give it some real sheen.
I hope this helps someone else do something like it.

A wonderful organic looking piece. The base looks like aged wood or old ivory. The figure also has a nice worn and earth like tone to it. Very nice.

Beautiful work Sivousplay. I love the “wood-tones” on the base too; all the values tie together well. Can’t wait to see your next figure!
