Gaianotes, known for their excellent line of hobby supplies and equipment, are sponsoring another figure painting contest. Like their previous contests, the winners will be selected from the entries during the second week of June and winners will be posted on their website. This contest requires that you paint one of Gaianote's own "Practice Figure" busts and the winners will receive cash prizes and hobby supplies. Entries will be accepted until the end of May.

Sunday, October 28 will be the date for the next Treasure Festa event in Kobe. It will be held at the International Convention Center, Bldg. #2 from 11am to 4pm. Admission cost is 1500 yen.

The event is much smaller than the Wonder Festival offerings, but will usually have a lot of smaller independent dealers from surrounding areas who cannot attend the larger festivals in Tokyo.

It's that time of year again and Kaiyodo seems to be sticking with the new location at the Makuhari Messe (International Convention Center). It will be held on July 29 from 10am to 5pm in halls 1-8. This is the single largest garage kit event in Japan and along with the winter Wonderfest, the largest gathering of garage kit dealers and independent kit producers under one roof. The last winter Wonderfest had almost 2000 dealers and 50,000 attendees. Ticket booklets will be sold at all Kaiyodo store locations and participating hobby shops. Admission price is 2000 yen.

Many of you have probably noticed the site has been down for the past week(ish).

I did a complete overhaul of all the old software and plugins and Masa and I upgraded to the newest version of vBulletin with official built in cms content homepage and blogs.

This is a huge improvement to the software and now the site should be working MUCH better and faster with no more server errors!

The old cms from vbadvanced had a security issue that was causing all sorts of script errors so the official VB one will be great. It has article abilities and tons of widgets we can setup to improve it and our members experience on gkjapan.

Right now I'm working on setting it up so please don't worry about the default articles and categories that you see there. I will be removing and changing these as I get use to all the new features.

In the mean time everything is up and running so feel free to use the site again!

You can expect to see a fresh new banner and gkj logo to go with the new site soon!

    Thanks,
    Dr.H

Good to hear! I was seriously worried GKJ had died.
I'll be back soon with more material after a year (!) of unwanted absence from the hobby.

Shingeki no Kyojin - do not watch with children in the room. Not for the feint of heart, but really interesting story. The manga has sold oodles of copies
