I think this link can explain filters far better than I can
![]() http://www.migproductions.com/minisi...dos/washes.htm I've learned so much from this "diversion project", and plan to apply some of the new techniques to my next figure kit.

I have applied all the decals and the kit is waiting to be clear coated for the enamel washing/filters stage. These are some photos taken immediately after the decals were applied. Mr. Mark Softer was used on some of the decals to help them conform to the curved areas of the surface. The slight edges you can see on some of the decals will disappear after the clear coats are applied.
Mr. Color and Gaia Color paints are semi-gloss when dry and the decals have no problem adhering directly to the dry painted surface. Some water based acrylics that dry to a matte finish might fare better with a coat of gloss or semi-gloss clear before decal application.

After the decals are applied, the entire kit gets sprayed with a coat of Mr. Super Clear (semi-gloss) to protect the decals and seal all the work up til now. Washes made from a mixture of enamel thinner and paint (brown and grey with just a drop of black) are applied to the panel lines and edges. After this is dry, the excess is then wiped off with a cotton swab dipped in enamel thinner. This process is repeated until the desired effect is achieved.

All the armor plates and power hoses are attached. Each spring hose has a solid core wire inside so that I can bend and pose it. The next step will be the filters, followed by more weathering and pigments. I'm keeping the fragile antenna and thruster bells separate from the main body due to the probability of an accident while handling the main structure. I apologize for the harsh lighting - the glare is from my desk lamp.

I picked up a circular plastic conduit cover at the hardware store to use for the base of the figure. It's hollow on the interior - so I'm toying with the idea of having some leds/lighting/eye candy.

Lack of progress? The usual - real life, work, family. My son graduating from his terrible two's and forging straight into terrible three's. Shortage of billionaires wanting me to do artwork for their books. I spent the better part of my holidays making a pegasus sculpture frame for my daughter's school project
