Default WIP - 1/6 Apostle Zodd of Berserk

Ok, so I got this commision quite some time ago.
Prep work has taken its fair time (much due to the fact this bad boy being a rock hard thai cast...) but now that I'm actually at painting stage I thought I'd share him with the lot of you.
Pics coming soon... and yeah, Arieanna .. I'm such a tease.. ;P

Since it's too late now (00:30) for photoshopping; workday tomorrow as per usual, here's a lil' sneak peek on what's taking so damn long.
As some of you know I've been at this kit for quite some time now, but now that I have passed the tedious prep stage the fun can begin...

Rock hard, resin ball and pin hole filled Thai resin...
Enjoy the horror:

Tomorrow night I'll guide you through the re-posing of some of the parts.
Here's a teaser of what I did with the legs:

Since the cast was so warped, the figure was leaning backwards when I assembled the crotch and legs parts, showing quite a huge gap under his .. um, yeah. Also, the right foot was bent inwards + covering one of the neatly severed faces on the base. So, I simply sculpted in the gaps that occured by the groin using white milliputty.
The red stuff on the legs is the almighty Bondo supplied by GIT.

More to come...

Cool

And for all those of you who don't know who this character is...
Zodd the immortal; Nosferatu Zodd, apostle in the Berserk universe and participant of any battle there is. And, thus being the case, he is quite bored now, sitting there on a pile of corpses contemplating.

Right then, on to the assembly of the torso/arms:

On to the head / fur cape... thingy. Yeah...
Straight out of the box (or bag in this case), the kit looks like this:

Quite boring to be honest. No life in it.

Now, the commisioner wanted to add one or more crows to the base; you know, picking an eye of a corpse or sump.
So, what'd be more fitting than for Mr. Z to look down at this?
Right, so dremel - Switch ON .. some milliputty and voilĂ*:

The really bad thing about Thai resin is that all thin or detailed parts break easily as h3ll.
And so did the cleaver. In transit, so there wasn't really anything more for me to do than craft a new one.
I found one of my old internet bank code cards (works like sheet styrene; plasticard) was perfect for this:

So, yeah... I've been kinda of busy with a lot of tedious prep work, but a few evenings back I finally primed him =)
Last night I sat down to do the skin tones.
I settled for a tannish south european / mid eastern brownish/yellowish nuance as this is how he's portraid in most color paintings and in the anime ( though this particular kit is based on the b/w manga).
The parts are separated like this: Torso w arms, head w cape, legs.

First cote:

After this one I did a lot of veining and artieries + the darker shadows and highlights, but unfortunately I was so wrapped up in doing those I totally forgot to take photos...

Anyhow, this is where I am right now:

He looks a bit clean now, but I will add washes later on + of course a lot of dirt and splashed blood whn I'm done with the rest of the figure...

Today I ordered a wooden base from the good Dr. H.

More to come ...

Look what your WIP kit made me do. I decided to register with this forum JUST so I can post in this thread.

Needless to say, I can't wait to see what's to come. As to what's been done so far, I can't believe that kit used to be a Thai recast. It looks so clean now!
